Every dog owner knows having a four-legged best friend in your life brings unlimited joy and happiness. Dog training and exercise are effective ways to build and strengthen a strong relationship with the K9 in your life; keep reading to learn more.

Spending time with your canine is one of the best ways to reconnect with the joy in our lives especially since dogs live in the moment. Both regular training and exercise will help enhance and deepen the overall relationship with our dogs. Always make time for you and your dog to spend quality time together every day!

Exercising with Your Dog is a Win-Win!

Enjoying the great outdoors with your K9 friend fulfills their natural need to explore, socialize and exercise (and it’s really good for their humans too!). But a recent article in Psychology Today, estimates 41% of dog owners fail to consistently walk their dogs. Let’s get out and active with our best friends!

Did you know that exercise can prevent canine issues? It’s true, especially with dogs that are bred to be very active including the sporting, working and herding K9 breeds. If these breeds do not regularly release their energy through lots of activity and exercise, undesirable behaviors may begin to emerge as the dog becomes frustrated with pent-up energy (like barking, destructive chewing and digging, aggression, dominance and more).

High-energy sporting dogs include the:

  • Labrador Retrievers (America’s #1 dog breed for more than 27 years!);
  • Spaniels; and
  • Pointers.

The working group of canines as bred to assist their owners and include the:

  • Doberman Pinschers;
  • Siberian Huskies; and even
  • Great Danes!

The industrious, job-loving herding breeds include the:

  • Collies;
  • Belgian Malinois;
  • Sheepdogs;
  • Australian Shepherds; and yes,
  • Corgis!
